Will the QuicKey Leveler fit the piano whose keys I want to level?
The QuicKey Leveler can be used on virtually any piano with key blocks that are at least 1-1/2" wide and have a vertical key rim (side pieces of the key cover). The tool can be adjusted four different ways so that the rail always sits correctly above the keys. Please click on the APPARATUS button on the left for more details.

How does the QuicKey Leveler level the piano's keys?
The QuicKey Leveler doesn’t actually level the keys; keys are leveled by removing or adding paper punchings under the keys at the balance rail and the front rail. What makes the QuicKey Leveler, key leveling tool, unique is that it tells the technician exactly how the punchings need to be adjusted under the keys. The QuicKey Leveler Software Program applies a sophisticated mathematical model to the data received from the QuicKey Leveler apparatus to determine how best to level the keys (adjust the punchings)with a minimum amount of work or disruption to the piano’s action.

Normally, when I level keys, I am removing one key at a time, how is it possible to remove all of the keys at once?
The patent pending method of the QuicKey Leveler system is based on a holistic approach to the leveling process. That is, rather than looking at just one key at a time all of the keys are looked at as a whole. The QuicKey Leveler method measures the exact position of each key and analyzes that position as it relates to each of the other keys. Comparing all the key positions to how the technician wants the keys to line up saves time; not only when leveling but also by reducing the likelihood that the keys will be over adjusted. Over adjusting the key's punchings will likely lead to further adjustment to the key action and creates unnecessary work. Reports tell the technician exactly how the punchings under each key needs to be adjusted, so all of the keys may be removed at once to allow access to the punchings.

Do I need any special key weights or "bean bags" when I use the apparatus?
No, the patent pending design includes a counter balance system that allows the technician to measure the key in the rest position without depressing the key. The technician depresses each key to get the dip reading. The QuicKey Leveler is unique in that no dis-assembly of the piano is required to analyse how "out-of-level" the keys are.
Look for the precision dip force attachment coming soon!

Can the data from the digital indicator be entered automatically into the program?
Yes, there is an additional option called the Data Input Tool. The Data Input Tool links the digital indicator into your computer via a USB port. Rather than entering the data manually, a button is pressed and the data from the indicator is automatically entered into the program. This option eliminates the data entry step and assures accurate data entry. Please contact us for more details about this new option.
The Leveler Company is offering this option free of charge with the purchase of a new unit until 12/31/2008. This is a $450.00 value.

I don’t have access to a computer when I am at my customer’s site or in my shop, how can I use the QuicKey Levler Software program?
It may not be practical or convenient to directly enter the data from the leveling tool apparatus into the software program. More often than not, it is easier to just write down the data from the apparatus. Click on the DOWNLOAD button on the left to download a PFD Version of our Data Collection Report. This report can be printed from your computer and used to write-down the data taken from the apparatus in an organized manner.
